Summer biking season is coming, so mark your calendars for the annual Bike Safety event! Sponsored by the Monona Police Department, Monona Grove School District, and Monona Parks & Recreation, the Bike Safety event teaches young bikers safety, bike traffic laws, and riding skills…and it’s a lot of fun.
A free bike safety check-up is included, and kids can get free licenses for their bikes. The event is scheduled from 3:00-5:00 pm. Parents, encourage your elementary-school-aged children to attend with their bikes, or bring your younger children just learning to ride. Adults are welcome to participate -- just bring your bike and helmet!

Monona gets a radio station 98.7 -
98.7 FM will be the radio station for Monona...there still is a lot of work to get this thing up and running. When folks first hear that Monona is getting a LPFM station the first comment often is - why do we want or need a radio station? After some discussion about the use of radio for safety and the many other aspects to augment other media approaches the next question is - what would we put on the air for people to hear...that is when it clicks with people - we have so many people in our community that would be great to have slots on the air...many folks that have plenty to share and endless stories (both good and bad). I don't think I have been so excited to tune in to a radio station (with exception of finding A Prairie Home Companion or Car Talk) that is not an on-demand/app based station.
The City of Monona is also seeking a Media Coordinator

City of Monona Garage Sale weekend May 16th.
The city wide garage sale weekend is my daughters favorite weekend of the year...time to clean out the basement and garage and try to find someone that wants your unwanted items. Once the weekend is over, the flood of donations to Goodwill and other agencies will begin.
